The Exposition “Arte Maya en vidrio” (Mayan art in glass) was presented from August 9th to August 31st, 2007 in Kukulcan plaza.
The exposition consisted of glass plates, featuring the Mayan culture, available for purchase during the exposition. At the same time, a Music Group called “Infinite Music” performed their flexible and multifaceted music. Created in Holland in 2006, their interesting baroque music replicates the environment in a concert hall.
Members include: Santiago Cumplido, Tenor singer; Roberto Bando, flute; Eva Harmunthová, oboe; Alexandra Resnka, cello; and Donald Nicolson, piano.
Clemente Cameo is a Mexican artist that greatly enjoys the art of stained glass. Through his hands, Clemente converts raw materials into art pieces that communicate vitality and happiness. The best expression of this is the gigantic stain glass that covers the ceiling of Kukulcan plaza.
This great piece, of 75 feet of diameter, was built from glass and stained with the help of Ericka Almazan and her crew. This took 5 months to build from scratch. It was designed in Mexico City, and then transported in small pieces to Cancun, where it was finally installed. This magnificent piece can be admired every day, by looking up inside plaza, where the daylight does its part in the morning, or by the daily audio and light show during nights, every night of the year.
